Yet another way to kill time when you can't sleep - play a game or work a puzzle. There are TONS of sites on the web where you could literally waste entire days working crossword puzzles or playing euchre. Most of these sites will ask you to register and get a user name and password in order to win prizes and play the games. I visit a lot of different puzzle sites and I use to have a hard time remember what name and password I used at them. It's really frustrating when you're all set to play and can't get into the site because you forgot your password. The easiest way I've come up with to remedy the situation is to pick a user name and password and use the same one on all the game sites. This way you don't have to stop and think, you can just punch it in and get on with the game.
