Well,
I had my three month appointment with the Rheumaltologists. They feel that for now, I have stretched the length of time between infusions far enough. They are concerned that the ra will sneakily come back and do more damage to my joints and they feel that with the damage I already have, it's not a good idea to chance any further damage and so they are going to schedule a new round of infusions. They said to go two more rounds of 9 months and then maybe stretch out the times between infusions to a year. Oh well. I'm not going to try and over-doctor them. I was hoping to just keep on going with out the infusions but, still feel that the Doctors know best.

I feel the same way Larry and I have a feeling my RD is going to want to give me another round next month....it makes sense. In the last few days I've had some aching in my hand, fingers, knees and feet and I have a feeling I need that 6 month infusion. Like you, I'm hoping that I can go a year after this next round. To be honest with you, I'm thankful and blessed for 6 months of relief and if that's all I get between infusions I'll be happy. So much better than ever before. Lindy

My rheumatologist recommends sticking to the every 6 months schedule for me and it is amazingly effective. For the first time right before this last couple of infusions, I had the beginnings of some aches in my ankles, knees and hips so I suspect the schedule is about right.

Hi Babs,
Yep, it's been just over nine months. Monday I had a bone density scan and Tuesday, I had my first of two rituxan infusions. The density scan showed some improvement in parts of my body and showed no change in other parts. I am within the "average" for my age. My left hip being closest to out of range. My rituxan infusion was very uneventful. But I know that my doctors are smarter than me and made a wise decision. I didn't want to admit it but was having more pain and more small flares. So, I will have labs next week and then the following week, if my labs show no problems, I will have my second of two infusions.
