Topic: 6 months since last Rituxan infusion Posted: 10 March 2012 at 10:02pm |
I wanted to post some great news......not sure if I'm in remission ( only xrays of the joints will tell you if there's any synovial fluid lurking) but I'm very close to remission. I had my last infusion October 24th and will see my RD next month to see if I need another round. I'm thinking no. Have had little RA pain, damage pain but no active RA pain. My fingers, wrist, elbows, shoulders and ankles are NORMAL looking - no swelling and no redness. Even the RA nodules I had on my elbows have disappeared. Labs are all normal.
I've weaned myself off Lyrica, Celebrex, Sulfasalazine and Imuran. My only meds are thyroid, cardiac and allergy meds. I've also lost a dress size. My goals while I was in Mexico was to lose weight stop all of the above meds, and golf 9 holes....I accomplished all three (golfed 12 holes) and my goals for this summer is to go down another size and to walk a mile.
Hopefully, I won't need another infusion till fall. We'll see how it goes. I just wanted to let everyone know that there's hope. For any new members, I've been through every DMARD and biologic and every combination and never had full relief until Rituxan. I have moderate to severe RA and I feel I've been blessed. Cardia complications from RA seems stabilized also. Life is good. I'm knocking on wood as I type this because you never know when the med. that's working for you will fail but I'm more confident now than I've ever been about the disease. Lindy

Oh LinB- congrats! It has been so wonderful to stop back in after all these years and see so many of us feeling we have put RA in its place! All of us that were in the same bad place a few years ago - in a good place now!

Had the first infusion yesterday of my second set of Rituxan infusions. I was able to make it 7 months but aching and foot pain said it was time. Hopefully, I can go longer between this and my next set.
Still golfing, cleaning my own house (UGH) but happy that I can do it. Walking a mile and actually enjoying it. Am lifting hand weights hoping to strengthen my arms, want to be able to hit a golf ball longer than 100 yards. That's my limit now. Still off Imuran, Lyrica, Susfasalazine, Celebrex and Vicodin. An occassional Aleve or Tramadol and I'm set to go.
Had an echo cardio to do a check on the floppy mitral valve and the left ventricle and everything is stable.......couldn't have asked for a better report. They're not getting better but if they stable I'm happy.
I'm just so sick and tired of going to the doctors, I know there's no end in sight. The six months we were in Mexico was the first time in 15 years I haven't been to the doctors within that time frame. It's such a hate/love relationship between you, the doctors, and the toxic drugs we have to take. Lindy
