Hi Guys, I just wanted to talk to people who understand. Im not looking for solutions. I just want support.

I have NEVER been called lazy because of my JRA. I guess ive been lucky. I have always just grinned and beared it not matter what. I never tell people im in pain, they dont realize that I am always having some level of pain. If I dont say i hurt than I dont right? If i smile then i feel fine!  Today however I was called lazy. Because I spoke up. There was no way I could ran around as much as it needed for my job. So I asked if I could be the 1 to 1 sitter. My charge nurse and supervisor had no problem with that and changed the assignment. But my coworkers were pissed(lots of people claim to be sick so they can just sit)she called me lazy in front of me and my boss and then said that im always lazy. WHAT???? she never does any work. I have to pick up her slack. I never sit down. She hangs out in the break room. I had the day shift staff. Nights are better. I love my job but I will be glad to leave in april

My joints are just so bad. I guess I should be thankfull that they are not ussually like this. I am always in some level of pain but not like this, im not in remission, i just have ok periods and worse periods. Its so bad that I actually called my doctor asking for prednisone. I got actemra yesterday hopefully that will kick in soon as well.

The one good thing is that my joints are visibly swollen. (thats not good) BUT its nice to have some physical sighns to validate my symptoms. I have had so many rheumatologists get frustrated with me and after trying meds and non working, they tell me im making it up. Because my blood work is always normal and they can hardly ever see inflamation.

This doctor is amazing. She is able to feel inflamation that I bet was there with myother doctors as well but they just overlooked. I got denied for Actemra initially because my blood work does not reflect my diagnosis, so she had me get an MRI which showed inflamation  she used that as proof. She believes me. And she is so good. I love her.

Anyway I guess I just wanted a little sympathy. Im tired of all this o your fine just deal with it crap.

Thanks for listening to my whining. I hope you guys are feeling ok!!

I completly understand your issues. I am proud of you for pushing through and not being a lazy person. It is better for your health that you keep moving on the days that you can.

Some days it takes more energy than we have to be up on our feet all day. Others do not understand. Just fighting the pain can cause fatigue. Well also the RA and JRA can cause fatigue when we flare.

I am not lazy but I know often I look so wore out people thank I just crawled out of bed. It is extra work for us to say the least and others just do not get that.

I am so glad you found a great doctor. That is such a blessing for you! I hope the Actrema helps you!

 Best of Luck to you!

Hey,
April I leave my work and go back to school.

My doctor is amazing. As far as actemra helping, im not sure. remicade, enbrel and humira did nothing....actemra seems to help a little, at least as far as inflamation. im not sure if it helps me pain wise or not(im always in some level of pain, so its hard to tell if the meds working or if im just having a good/bad day...you know?

Im working tomorrow as well. I called ahead to try and be set up to sit for the shift. I cant keep doing this though. I need to get a doctors note. I hate to have to do all the stupid disability/accomodations crap now considering im leaving so soon, if i was here longer it would make more sense.

anxious about tomorrow and how it will work out. what if people get all crazy and upset again when they see im the sitter?? I hate to cause conflict

Have you tried Rituxan? I am amazed at how many are achieving such success with it!

It doesn't matter what anyone says....you're leaving soon.  Now, if you were staying on then you might have to have a discussion with the offender but you don't.  You're on to what you really want to do and you're in a much better place due to meds that working for you.  Don't let others bring you down and enjoy your painfree days as much as  possible.  Lindy

Arg I've now deleted this by accident 3 times!!! Snyway I have not tried rituxan my dr is concerned about fertility I'm 24..... ActemrA has been the only thing that has helped just the slightest amount since I was 10 and NSAIDs worked.

But I'm so bad right now and very nervous about work tmrw-today I was off. But I started prednisone today so hopefully I'll be able to manage. I love my job but the day shift people suck I like nights better. Sadly shows me that I'm right nursing just isn't for me I love it but it's not Always physically possible and and will likely get harder as I get older .....

Hope your work day went OK.  Hopefully you can stick it out until April.  Too bad we don't turn purple or green or some color when we have inflammation and pain - then people would know when we are having a bad day.  Unfortunately I'm afraid you will continue to have to deal with people, at work or at school, who won't understand how you feel.  There isn't any way for them to know unless we tell them - but then we may be called lazy, a whiner, or a faker.  Some days I feel that I can read people's minds if I say I can't walk too far - it's like they look at me, think I can surely walk like they do and the way they look at me is that they don't believe me.  I just wish I could take off walking like I used to and not have pain.  Oh no, there I go being a whiner - oops sorry.

Hope the prednisone helped.
