Hi Mollycoo,
I hope Adrian is feeling better and will be able to go to the wedding. The clothing color scheme sounds really beautiful!
I hope you will be able to post some pictures.

Take care,
freesia

Molly

When I was reading about your outfit and the bridesmaids' dresses, I was thinking it would be lovely if you posted some photos on our very active forum, and then I saw your question to MrsE.  The website is http://pmrandgca.forumup.co.uk - loads of people are posting beautiful pictures of their gardens and their pets there at the moment.  I hope Adrian is better and able to make the special day complete.  Lots of good luck wishes to your daughter and her future hubby.  Have a beautiful day.

Hi Celtic, MrsE and Freesia,
nice to hear from you. It's just the usual aching legs, some days worse than others but always there, I've been tidying up the front garden this week, and dong extra jobs like you do, but will take it fairly easy now until after 17th. The stiffness after sitting for just a few minutes, really infuriates me!! I shan't have to sit too long at this wedding or else!! The groom's mother and myself are both wearing "John Charles" I've never bought a designer outfit before in my life, but thought I'd push the boat out as I only have the one daughter, and a wedding's special isn't it? officially the colour is ivory and bronze, although I would call it more coffee. I'm hoping to blend with the bridesmaids who are wearing latte and cream!! It's fairly understated, as I don't like anything too fussy, although one lady in a shop I went into said "but you are the bride's mother, you don't want to look like just another guest" My hat's a little over the top, but that's all. Adrian has been back in hospital, and is still off sick, but is hoping to be here next weekend. My biggest worry over the wedding has been, that he will be unable to attend. He has a 130 mile drive which worries me (his wife doesn't drive---sore point!!) Got everything crossed for good weather, just dry will do, doesn't have to be sunny! Cheerio, Molly.

Mollycoo, A chocolate teapot! I love it. LOL What a great expression. Not that I missed out on the meaning of what you were saying--I fear I may be in the same position as you regarding rheumatologist and primary care doctor.

Glad you checked in even though you are busy with the wedding coming up. That's exciting! I hope you will post some pictures at the other forum. I hope the weather will be nice for you.

Hi Molly

I was wondering whether it was actual pain in your legs that you are feeling or stiffness?  I ask because it is my legs that seem to bother me on and off.  They became strange about 10 days ago after feeling really normal for some time, feeling stiff around the knees and generally heavy.  I had missed my Tai Chi for several weeks and since returning last week, they are suddenly back to normal again.

With only 10 days to go excitement must be mounting - temperatures are forecast to rise shortly so you could be lucky weather-wise - I do hope so.  What colour is the bride's Mum wearing?Smile

Hi Mollycoo - nice to hear from you! Don't know if pics work on this forum but come on over to the other one and show us a bit of your wedding Wink - we're all a nosey lot really EmbarrassedLOL

Do have a lovely day and I hope the weather is kind. We were at one in Kew last Oct 1st - 29.5C was far too hot for a wedding with no aircon LOL. Our daughter gets married near Whitby at the end of September - bet it will be freezing for her Confused. However - plus point is it's nothing to do with me Smile

Hi Freesia,
I'm still here, haven't deserted the site, just nothing interesting to say, and not a lot of spare time with this wedding in 10 days time. I'm glad you're down to the equivalent of 5 mg, which is a nice low dose. I'm currently on 3 and a half, taking it very very slowly as I don't want to go off the boil just now!! I'm not pain free, it's mainly legs, always has been, but I think in the late 60's, one can expect a certain amount of aches and pains even without PMR!!
I go back to see my rheumy on 19th March, not that he's any more use than a chocolate teapot I have more faith in my GP.

                 Best wishes,

                    Molly.

Kaycee

If your scalp hurts,  run your fingers upwards through your hair two or three times.

Each individual hair has a muscle attached to it, think how sometimes the hairs on your arm stand up.

As PMR is muscular, the hair muscles can ache.   The simple running your fingers upwards gently can relieve some scalp pain.

I posted this on the pmrgcaforumup website ages ago.

There are two forums in the UK, one is called "Patients Experience" and is currently under a rebuilding exercise which has made it really rather user-unfriendly at the moment. It's crashed totally today as Microsoft have problems and they run the server they use.

The other one (not Patients ExperienceLOL)  is an offshoot of the PMR/GCA UK northeast support charity and has really taken off in a big way. It's been up and running for a year, has nearly 400 members (and nearly 20,000 posts!) and several people from here also are to be found over there including Rick and all of us from the UK. It is a bit of a madhouse at times but we really do have a laugh.

I like this site too - but as I say, there are so few postings it looks as if I have disappeared too ConfusedEmbarrassed

You can treat PMR with any corticosteroid drug and there are several. They use the ones with moderate lasting effects like methyl prednisolone and prednisolone where the effect lasts between 12 and 36 hours depending on the person. Hydrocortisone is much shorter acting and is sometimes used to taper doses. Others last a lot longer but also, as a result, have more side-effects.
