Has anyone else noticed how judgemental we all sound when we tell someone to stop being judgemental? Or make remarks about how substantive (or not) someone's contribution is to this forum? THAT is what is wrong with this forum. EVERYONE has an opinion whether they choose to share it or not. Most of us have an opinion on something that the rest would just go "Huh????". So why all the shock and all the surprise when they are shared? Why the hate?... Some of my best friends and even family are liberal Democrats. my "inner circle" is made up of people from all sides and I imagine I am not all that unique there. I sent them all a message just on election night telling them how devastated I was over the election. Something about my faith in humanity was shattered or something similarly melodramatic. I got responses ranging from eye-rolling get-over-it's to sorry you are bummed, stay open minded. I called some koolaid drinking Obama lovers and they called me a McCain loving warmonger. We had a good laugh and ended the conversation with an "I love you". That is what true acceptance of people should be. We accept each other with all our flaws. That makes us stronger. That is what makes America great... With all due respect to everyone, AA's disappointment and her ability to voice it in whatever way she wants, bad taste though it may be and bitter as it may taste to most of us to swallow is what makes America great.... Many of the things that make outsiders think of us as big Ugly Americans, actually are the same thing that make us great...
BTW I take offense to someone saying that they like some of us that just happen to be American. That implies that somehow us being American is in and of itself offensive to you. I sincerely hope that you did not mean that...
Be well, everyone...
