Arthritis &
Research
I think one of the
most asked questions when it comes to arthritis and research is,
"Will there be a cure?" At an Arthritis Foundation function I
was lucky enough to meet some of the researchers working on arthritis
treatments and maybe a cure. If the researchers I met are an example of
all the researchers I can honestly say if it is possible, I think they
will find it. The men and ladies I met are incredibly devoted to their
work. It is a passion with them, not a job. If hard work is what will
create that cure, it will happen. Hopefully a little luck will be thrown
in too!
We asked our members,
"Do you believe there will be a cure for arthritis in your
lifetime?" and they said:
Probably. I still
have several years ahead of me.-Moushkie
Yes! I have to
believe this.-Karen
I am 44 and this
disease has progressed pretty quickly and I am afraid it will do alot of
damage before there is a cure for me and others like me,but maybe there
will be a cure if any of our children aquire this disease.-Laura
Yes.-Chana
I sure hope so, but
with the lack of funding it seems doubtful.-Heather
yes i hope so or for
my daughters lifetime-Robbin
I HOPE-Brenda
I certainly hope so
but you never know what could happen.-Toni
Absolutely! My
mother's treatment only 20 years before my own was much different than
my own; the improvements have been nothing less than phenomenal. Though
I am dismayed by the fact that my medical problems tend to replicate
hers, I am also encouraged by the advances that have been made and the
speed at which they become available to us.-Patricia
Yes, I am only 48..
newly diagnosed and I do believe a cure is inevitable with the amount of
attention this disease is getting in the scientific community-Sharyn
One hopes so, but to
quote an old adage prevention is better (or almost as good) as a cure.
Treatment is definitely on the up.-Gill
I truly hope so. If
not a cure continued research with newer medicines to help daily living.-Judith
I honestly don't
know. I'm 40, so maybe.-Anisah
No, unfortunately.-Meg
I sure hope so! If
not in my life-time, then at least in my son's life. He's the one who
has arthritis and it hurts me to see him get discouraged sometimes. It's
been such a struggle for him. If there were a cure one day, it might
help it seem as if all the pain and the battles had been worthwhile.-Georgina
I hope so.-Deb
I pray there will be.-Terri
No, not a cure but I
do hope for better treatments and ways to control it.-Cynthia
That would be a
wonder ! But I can't believe it.-Michiels
I hope so, but I feel
a little defeated when I read so many differing opinions about what
actually causes RA and even about the disease itself, i.e. is the immune
system in "overdrive" or is it "worn out"?-Donna
Absolutedly!-Maria
Yes.-Janet
I hope so-Barbara
Yes-Chris
Regretfully, no. I
feel there is still to much they do not yet know about the cause and
progression of R.A. to cure it. How do you stop something from happening
until you know what causes it to happen?-Penny
Yup, without a
doubt...10 years tops.-Melissa
I hope and pray that
it will. But, more emphasis needs to be placed on causes of arthritis
and cures instead of only treatments (that cause side effects). Natural
and nutritional information, studies, and treatments are important and
are not recognized enough by doctors and insurance companies.-Maureen
I really hope so!-Debbie
Yes! I truly believe
that there is more awareness about RA and that a cure is becoming a
priority.-Karen
No-JBug
I sure hope so!!! But
if not, then I hope that all the studying on medicines they are able to
do with people in my lifetime with arthritis helps them to find a cure
some time in the near future.-TweetAngel1977
