Tina's Letter

Access to medication is a big issue for me. I am lucky to have insurance, others are not so fortunate. Although there are other important issues to advocate I chose access to medication. Here is the letter I am sending to my Representative:

The Honorable Tom Sawyer
U.S. House of Representatives
Washington, DC 20515

Dear Representative:

I am writing to ask your support of Medicare reforms that will ensure that the 43 million Americans with arthritis have access to the medications that can improve their quality of life. Without these medications many people are forced to live a life full of pain and disability.

The newest medications for inflammatory arthritis are medical miracles for some, although not a cure, these biological therapies are allowing some people to live a pain free life that they never imagined possible. Unfortunately they are very costly. I am fortunate to have a husband that is employed and carries full medical insurance. However many members of the Arthritis Insight.com community are not so lucky. They are not able to afford the drugs that might make their lives better. Just sitting down on the floor to play with their children is not possible for these people and it could be, if they were receiving the treatment they deserve.

It is crucial that Congress takes the action needed to allow everyone access to the medications they need. In this day and age no one should be denied the miracles that modern medicine can provide. Can I count on your support?

Sincerely,
Tina Underwood
